Once you have finished creating your design, transfer it to the "Design Template" and follow the guides and instructions that have been set out in this template to layout your design. Make sure your art is hi-resolution, at least 230-300dpi.

DO NOT submit the "Design Template". Keep the "Design Template" on your computer in case your design is chosen.

Just so you know, YOU retain all intellectual property and rights in regards to the art that you have created.

3. Submitting Your Design

Now you need to place a lo-resolution version of your finished design into the 2 template images that make up the "Submission Template".

Image 1: (Boardshort View) - Mask or place your design into the layer shown in this Photoshop file.

Image 2: (Detailed View) - Place a detailed section of your design into this Photoshop file.

Save these images to your desktop using original filenames and now your ready to submit.

NOTE:
• Only a GIF or JPG file will be accepted.
• All images for submission need to be at a resolution of 72 DPI.
• All images for submission must be in RGB color. CMYK is not made for websites.

4. Selection Criteria/Your Design

It is up to the good folk of the Rip Curl Boardshort Design Department as to what designs get selected and what designs get thrown in the trash.

If you produce a great piece of art or design, it is highly likely that we’ll select your design for 1 of the 2 stages of the competition. These stages are:

Stage 1: "The Collective" – Boardshorts chosen for "The Collective" will be made for the artist, photographed and then inserted into a gallery on the website where the designs can be commented on by the public. Overall winners will be chosen for this category by the Rip Curl Boardshort Design Department with prizes packs up for grabs for the winners.

Stage 2: "Wildcards" – Boardshort designs not chosen to go into "The Collective" stage of the contest, may get chosen as a "Wildcard". The boardshort designs chosen to be a "Wildcard" will be voted on by the public. The most popular boardshort designs as decided by the public will be made for the artist also with prize packs up for grabs.

Enjoy!
